The Ducks return to the Meadow to face Leverstock Green this Saturday in the Southern League Division One Central.

Based in suburb of Hemel Hempstead Leverstock Green, the Green were founded in 1895, making the club over 130 years old. They were promoted to the Southern League Division One Central after the 2023/24 season, earning promotion through the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division play-offs, beating Harpenden Town in the semi-final and FC Romania in the final.

The club has played in a number of local and regional leagues over more than a century, including the West Herts League, Hertfordshire Senior County League before reaching the Southern League; their rise to Step in 2024 represented one of the highest levels the club has competed at in its history.

The 25/26 season was excellent for Leverstock Green in their second year in Step 4 football, finishing strongly with notable results including: a 2-0 away win at Ware; a 2-0 home win over Northwood; a 3-1 win over London Lions; and a 9-0 away victory against Dunstable. Their strong finish to the season suggests that they have established themselves in this division after promotion from the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.

Leverstock Green started this season inconsistently but have become more competitive as the campaign has progressed. Their recent results suggest a side capable of matching established Step 4 clubs, with notable wins over Ware, Thame United and Biggleswade, scoring plenty of goals, but tightening up defensively could be key for them to continue success at this level.

Their overall record for this season is 4 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses scoring 25 goals and conceding 28, awarding a goal difference of –3. Following their 5-0 victory over Ware, our opponents are sitting 16th in the table, only 3 places above Aylesbury United after our emphatic victory over MK Irish which ended 4-3.
