London Lions FC

The Ducks travel to London Lions on Saturday 10th October kick off 3pm in the Pitching In Southern League Division One Central.

London Lions began life as MALEX in 1995, formed by Maccabi Association London to provide a route into Saturday football and the national football pyramid. It joined Division One of the Hertfordshire Senior County League and was renamed London Lions in 1999.

The Lions won the Hertfordshire Senior County League Division One in their first season under the London Lions name and later became Premier Division champions in 2009–10. Promotion took them into the Spartan South Midlands League, where they won Division One in 2012–13, scoring 120 league goals during that championship season. Following several moves between the Hertfordshire, Spartan South Midlands and Combined Counties leagues, the club won the Combined Counties League Division One in 2021–22, earning another promotion.

A major milestone followed in 2024–25, when London Lions won the Spartan South Midlands League promotion play-offs, beating Cockfosters and then Wormley Rovers on penalties. That secured promotion to Step 4, and the club joined the Southern League Division One Central for 2025–26, representing the highest level reached in its history to that point.

This season London Lions sit 15th in the league on 9 points from 8 games following a 6-0 drubbing away to Winslow last weekend. They have achieved wins over Biggleswade Town, Ware and Leverstock Green.

Two early errors by the Ducks against Marlow on Sunday meant another fightback was required and despite being the better side in the second half, a lack of composure at key moments in front of goal resulted in another frustrating 3:2 defeat.
