Preview by James Knight

Following the 2-4 defeat dealt by Hertford Town at Chesham last night, the Ducks' next fixture is away at Ware FC on Saturday at 3pm. Founded in 1892, the club has been a fixture of the county football scene for well over a century and remains one of the area's most respected semi-professional outfits. Over the years, Ware have built a reputation for stability, strong community ties and a commitment to developing players while consistently competing at Step 4.

Nicknamed 'The Blues', Ware FC play their home matches at Wodson Park, a modern facility that has become one of the better-equipped grounds in the division. Their long history includes numerous appearances in county competitions, success in the Herts Senior Cup, a memorable run to the FA Cup First Round Proper in 1998 when they faced now League One side Luton Town.

This season has been challenging compared to recent campaigns. Having regularly mixed it with the promotion contenders over the past few years, Ware have found themselves lower down the table than expected and are still searching for the consistency that previously made them such a force in this division.

Results including a victory over Marlow and draws against Stotfold and Hertford Town highlight their ability to compete with established sides, but the challenge for the hosts this season has been converting competitive performances into three points – too often they have been involved in tight matches where they have shared the points rather than taking all three.

Currently sitting 20th in the Southern League Division One Central, Ware FC have endured a challenging start to the campaign. Their record of one win, seven draws and four defeats reflects a side that has remained competitive in most matches but has struggled to convert performances into victories. The number of draws highlights their resilience and organisation, with opponents often finding them difficult to break down, even if the Blues have not always been rewarded with maximum points.
